Flying Solo: Thailand
Come on your own. Experience Thailand together.
3–10 March 2027 · Phuket + Koh Lanta
£1,400 per person · Private air-conditioned rooms · 20 spaces
Created for solo travellers aged 40–60
Always wanted to do Thailand, but keep thinking:
“I’d go if I had someone to come with me.”
This is for you.
Flying Solo is an eight-day Thailand adventure for people who want to travel, explore and experience somewhere completely different, but don’t necessarily want to do the whole thing alone.
Everyone arrives in exactly the same way: without a travel companion.
No couples. No established friendship groups. No walking into a room and discovering everybody else came with somebody.
Instead, you’ll meet in Phuket before travelling together to Koh Lanta for beach days, island adventures, incredible Thai food, warm seas, new places and plenty of time to actually enjoy being away.
You’ll have your own private room throughout, while the travel, accommodation and planned experiences are organised for you.
You make the decision to come. We’ll take care of a lot of what happens next.
There comes a point when organising a holiday with other people becomes surprisingly difficult.
Friends have work, partners, children, family commitments, different budgets and different ideas about where they want to go. You talk about Thailand over dinner, everyone agrees it would be amazing, someone promises to check their annual leave…
…and somehow another year passes.
Flying Solo came from a very simple idea:
What if you stopped waiting for everybody else’s life to line up with yours?
Travelling without a companion doesn’t mean spending eight days alone.
It simply means making the decision for yourself.
Once you arrive, you’ll have people to explore with, eat with, swim with, laugh with and share the experience with, without giving up the independence and freedom that made you want to travel in the first place.
The trip you keep waiting to take
What the week looks like
Our itinerary has been perfect over 10 years of Thailand retreats.
Each day is curated to ensure a perfect pace, with many different activities and adventures to indulge in!
Please note, there will also be optional practise on the beach throughout the week, led by Jax, our Freedom founder & lead guide.
-
Arrive at Proud Phuket by 5pm, settle into your private room and meet everyone before heading to Nai Yang Beach for a relaxed sunset dinner.
This first evening is deliberately easy: good food, sunset on the beach, names to faces and time to land after the journey.
-
After breakfast, we leave Phuket and travel south together to Koh Lanta.
Check in, unpack, go for a swim, explore your surroundings or simply enjoy having nowhere you need to be before meeting again for dinner.
-
The first full day on Koh Lanta is intentionally slow.
There’s time for the beach, swimming, wandering, reading or doing very little at all, plus an included traditional Thai massage by the sea.
Later, we’ll come back together for an informal opening gathering and the beginning of the week properly.
-
Today we head out onto the Andaman Sea for a full-day Four Island boat adventure.
Expect turquoise water, island scenery, swimming, beaches and plenty of time out on the water.
A proper Thailand paradise day!
-
We’ll spend time wandering through Koh Lanta Old Town, eating, browsing and experiencing another side of the island.
Then it’s on to Mu Ko Lanta National Park for a gentle hike through the tropical landscape with streams, a small waterfall and luscious greenery.
-
We’ll travel by traditional local songthaew to the beautiful Bamboo Beach for our final full day on Koh Lanta.
Swim, explore, chat, read, disappear under a palm tree for an hour or do absolutely nothing.
Later, we’ll come together for our closing gathering and one final evening on the island.
-
After breakfast, we travel back to Phuket for our final night at the luxury Proud Phuket.
There’s time to enjoy the hotel and pool before one last beachside sunset dinner together. An opportunity to share stories from the week and indulge in delicious Thai cocktails!
-
Breakfast, check-out and goodbyes.
Hopefully with a camera roll full of Thailand, some very good stories and quite a few people in your phone who were complete strangers eight days earlier.
Leave with a glowy feeling and a smile on your face.
Coming on your own? Good.
For a lot of people, the idea of Thailand isn’t the scary part, it’s getting on the plane alone. We get it.
That’s why Flying Solo starts before you even arrive.
We’ll create a group chat for everyone joining the trip so you can introduce yourself, ask questions, compare flights and start putting names to faces beforehand. You may even find somebody else travelling on the same or a similar route.
Then, on 3 March, all you need to do is make your way to Proud Phuket by 5pm. The hotel is around a four-minute drive from Phuket Airport.
You’ll settle into your room, meet Jax and the rest of the group and head out for a relaxed first dinner at Nai Yang Beach where you can meet the rest of the people who all made the same exciting decision to join.
The following morning, you head south together to Koh Lanta.
And from there, the holiday really begins!
This isn't a yoga retreat
Freedom has deep roots in yoga, but Flying Solo is deliberately different.
The heart of this week is travel, adventure, connection and experiencing Thailand together.
There will be optional meditation, philosophy and opportunities to slow down and reflect if you fancy them, but you won’t be spending your holiday moving between scheduled yoga classes.
You’re coming to Thailand, and we want you to experience it!
That means getting out onto the water, exploring Koh Lanta, eating Thai food, visiting local places, swimming, wandering, trying something new and having enough free time that the week still feels like a holiday.
What you'll experience
This is a week for actually seeing and experiencing Thailand, with enough organisation to make travelling easy and enough freedom for it to still feel like your holiday.

You’ll have your own private, air-conditioned accommodation throughout the trip.
Your first and final nights are spent at Proud Phuket, close to Nai Yang Beach, with the heart of the week spent on Koh Lanta.
So you get the reassurance and fun of travelling with other people without sacrificing your independence.
Want to join everyone for dinner? Great.
Want an hour on your own with your book? Also great.
Take a swim. Have a nap. Go for a wander. Spend as much time with yourself as you would like. This week is for you and your needs!
Food in Thailand
Food is part of the reason to come!
Expect fresh, colourful Thai dishes, relaxed breakfasts, local lunches (note lunch is not included, other than on the 4 day island boat tour) and flavour-packed dinners throughout the week.
Some meals are included as part of planned experiences, while at other times you’ll have the freedom to choose where and what you fancy eating.
Vegetarian options are available, and vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free requirements can be catered for when arranged with us beforehand.
Meet Jax
Freedom’s approach is built around much more than simply putting guests in a beautiful hotel: the aim is to experience the places you visit, work with local people and create trips that balance organisation with enough freedom to actually enjoy being there.
And for Flying Solo, her role matters.
Because when you’re travelling without somebody you already know, knowing there’s someone on the ground taking care of the bigger picture makes a difference.
Jax founded Freedom as an exploration of inner and outer worlds, supporting people to feel more alive through yoga, adventure, and meaningful connection. She first fell in love with Thailand in 2004 and has travelled extensively across the country ever since, deeply moved by its beauty, culture, and generosity of spirit.
On Koh Lanta, Jax has built long-standing relationships with local hosts and communities. Her retreats are rooted in care for the places she travels to, with an intention to work alongside local people and support grassroots development where possible. Each retreat is shaped by the landscape itself — drawing on elemental yoga, embodied practice, and a sense of joy and transformation inspired by Thailand’s natural rhythm.
Your host in Thailand
Flying Solo is led by Jackie Heffer-Cooke, Jax, founder of Freedom Yoga & Retreats.
So, why join us?
Who is Flying Solo for?
Flying Solo has been created especially for people in their 40s, 50s and 60s who want to travel but don’t currently have the right person to travel with.
Maybe you’re single. Maybe your partner doesn’t want to visit Thailand. Maybe your friends keep saying “one day”. Maybe your children are older and suddenly you have a little more freedom.
Maybe you’ve travelled alone before, or maybe the idea absolutely terrifies you.
You don't have to think of yourself as a “solo traveller”. This week is about experiencing the beauty of Thailand in the safety of a group tour and dynamic.
Why travel with Freedom?
We don't believe a retreat or group trip needs to involve being shepherded from one activity to another every hour of the day.
The structure is there so you can relax. The experiences are there because they’re worth doing.
The free time is there because sometimes the best part of being somewhere completely different is having the time to simply enjoy it.
Freedom has been built around travel, community, meaningful experiences and the people and places that host us.
Flying Solo takes those principles and creates something slightly different: A way to make the trip independently without having to experience it alone.
-
Completely!
For some people, getting on the plane is the biggest mental hurdle. That’s why we create a group chat beforehand, help everyone connect and give you one very clear first job: get yourself to Proud Phuket by 5pm.
From there, you’re part of the group.
