ABOUT
Yoga in the Thai Islands
This is a retreat for people who want more than a change of scenery — they want to feel held by place, supported by great teaching, and connected to the community that makes the experience possible.
We’ll explore the stunning seascapes of Phang Nga, practise in a beautiful wooden shala, swim and kayak through mangroves and canyons — and return each day to simple comfort, good food, and the kind of calm that stays with you. Yoga in the Thai islands
YOUR ITINERARY
Here’s the rough flow of the week — a simple rhythm of daily practice, real rest, and a few standout experiences that connect you to the place. Think sunrise Tai Chi, yoga in the shala, nourishing meals, time to swim and reset, plus a couple of bigger adventure days (kayak, boat trip) woven in without overpacking the schedule.
-
Arrive, check in, and land softly. We’ll gather in the evening for a simple welcome, intentions for the week, and an easy stretch to unwind after travel. Early night encouraged.
-
A calm start: morning practice, pool time, and space to rest. Optional group lunch and a short briefing for island travel. Evening session to ground the body and prepare for the shift into retreat rhythm.
-
After morning practice, we travel together by taxi and boat to Koh Yao Noi. Settle into bungalows, explore the beach, and meet for a gentle sunset session. Dinner together to mark the beginning of island life.
-
Dawn Tai Chi, shala yoga, and a slow afternoon to swim, read, or nap. Evening workshop and guided wind-down. This is your “exhale” day — simple, steady, and restorative.
-
Morning practice as usual, then a guided kayak trip through mangroves and canyon-like waterways. Return for lunch, rest, and a lighter evening session to loosen the body after the adventure.
-
A slower day to restore. Your included Thai massage is scheduled today (timings vary). Practice, good food, and space to integrate. Optional journalling prompts and a short evening meditation.
-
A full-day longtail boat adventure: Hong + Monkey Island, snorkelling, and a paradise beach only reachable by boat. We keep the pace relaxed and return for an easy dinner and early night.
-
A final dawn practice and closing circle. Transfers back towards Phuket for onward travel. You’ll leave with a calmer nervous system, stronger body awareness, and the kind of reset that lasts beyond the plane home.
ACCOMMODATION
-
This retreat is designed as a soft landing into island life, with comfort where it counts and simplicity where it adds to the magic. You’ll spend 2 nights in a luxury resort in Phuket (your own room, plus a hotel pool for recovery and ease), before travelling on to Koh Yao Noi for 5 nights in your own air-conditioned beach bungalow. Koh Yao Noi is peaceful, slow, and deeply grounding — the kind of place where you naturally exhale.
All taxi and boat transfers from Phuket to Koh Yao Noi are included, so once you arrive, you’re looked after. You can focus on practice, rest, swimming, and the joy of being away from your normal pace — without needing to organise logistics.
-
You’ll fly into Phuket, with the journey typically around 14 hours from the UK depending on routes and layovers. Direct options tend to be simplest, but it’s also possible to find cheaper flights by travelling overnight via Bangkok or Kuala Lumpur. We can help you choose flights and share practical recommendations so your arrival feels smooth.
Once you land, we’ve got the local travel covered: taxi and boat transfers from Phuket to Koh Yao Noi are included. You’re welcome to arrive earlier, stay longer, or extend your trip with friends or family — the retreat runs strictly within the dates listed, but what you do around it is completely your choice.
-
Food is a central part of the experience — local, nourishing, and joyfully Thai. All meals on Koh Yao Noi are included, with a simple, supportive rhythm each day:
Daily nutritious “superfood” breakfast
Daily light lunch (typically rice or noodles)
Daily Thai dinner in hand-picked restaurants, with vegetarian or fish options
Dietary needs are welcomed. We can cater for:
Vegan
Gluten-free and/or dairy-free
If you have any specific requirements, simply let us know when booking so everything is set up for you from the start.

MEET YOUR GUIDE
Jax founded Freedom as an exploration of inner and outer worlds, supporting people to feel more alive through yoga, adventure, and meaningful connection. She first fell in love with Thailand in 2004 and has travelled extensively across the country ever since, deeply moved by its beauty, culture, and generosity of spirit.
On Koh Yao Noi, Jax has built long-standing relationships with local hosts and communities. Her retreats are rooted in care for the places she travels to, with an intention to work alongside local people and support grassroots development where possible. Each retreat is shaped by the landscape itself — drawing on elemental yoga, embodied practice, and a sense of joy and transformation inspired by Thailand’s natural rhythm.
SOCIAL IMPACT
Freedom retreats are built on reciprocity — community development through personal development. When you invest in yourself, you also invest in the places that host you. We work directly with local hosts and partners, and a portion of profits from each retreat is returned to the community through fair pay, local sourcing, and contributions to agreed local needs. We build long-term relationships with our hosts, so every retreat creates value that lasts beyond the week.
